Arrival in Lhasa: Airport Pickup + Hotel Check-in
Tashi Delek! Welcome to Lhasa, the City of Sunlight. Upon arrival, our driver will greet you at the airport or railway station exit and take you to your hotel in downtown Lhasa for check-in and rest. You can use the remaining time to rest well at the hotel and let your body gradually adapt to the high-altitude environment. Arrival suggestions By plane: Lhasa Gonggar Airport is the main gateway airport of Tibet, with direct flights to and from Chengdu (the most popular), Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xining, Kunming, Shangri-La, and other cities. In addition, it has the only direct international flight route, to Kathmandu, Nepal. By train: Taking the Qinghai-Tibet Railway to Tibet is also a very popular choice. You can take the train to Tibet from cities such as Xining (the starting point of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, 21h), Chengdu (36.5h), Chongqing (35.5h), Beijing (40.5h), Shanghai (47h), Guangzhou (52.5h), Xi'an (31h), and Lanzhou (24.5h). Warm tips: On the day of arrival in Lhasa, do not do strenuous exercise and do not take a shower that night to avoid catching a cold. Do not drink alcohol. Drink more water and eat fruit, and avoid overeating. Rest more. You may bring American ginseng lozenges or health supplements such as Rhodiola and Gaoyuan'an to relieve altitude sickness. Follow your guide's arrangements, try not to go out for activities, and maintaining a calm mindset and adequate rest is the best way to prevent altitude sickness. If you feel unwell, go to the hospital promptly for treatment.

Lhasa City Day Tour: Potala Palace + Jokhang Temple + Barkhor Street + Tibetan Dinner
After breakfast, visit the Potala Palace, the world's highest ancient palace-fortress architectural complex. The Potala Palace stands on Maburi Hill in the northwest of downtown Lhasa. It is a magnificent structure integrating palace, fortress, and monastery, and the largest and most complete ancient palace-fortress complex in Tibet. Built against the mountain, it has 13 stories, stands 117.19 meters tall, and stretches over 400 meters from east to west. You will climb the long staircases step by step, overlooking Lhasa as you go and taking in the grandeur of the city. Rest while taking photos, then step inside the Potala Palace to explore this mysterious ancient palace rarely shown in pictures online. Afterward, visit the Jokhang Temple, the holy site in the hearts of Tibetan Buddhist believers. First built in 647 AD, it has a history of 1,350 years. It is the most splendid surviving Tubo-period building in Tibet, with 5 golden roofs and 108 Buddhist halls. Here you can see the world's rare life-size statue of Shakyamuni at age 12 and devout pilgrims worshipping in front of the Jokhang Temple. Finally, you can stroll through Barkhor Street. This is not only the route for local kora rituals but also a very lively ancient commercial street. You may encounter locals in Tibetan robes and devout pilgrims, wander the alleys to browse handicraft shops, or find a sweet tea house and learn the tranquility and contentment of Tibetan friends. Enjoy a delicious Tibetan dinner in the evening.

Lhasa City Day Tour: Drepung Monastery + Sera Monastery
After breakfast, drive about 12 km (35 minutes) to visit Drepung Monastery, one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is built layer by layer along the mountain, grand in scale, its white walls and red eaves appearing especially serene and peaceful under the sunlight. Stepping inside, you can visit the Tsokchen Hall, Ganden Podrang, the four major colleges and other important buildings in turn to learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture, or head to the debate courtyard to watch monks debate Buddhist doctrine (around 14:00), or simply stroll through the monastery in search of inner peace. In addition, around August each year, a grand thangka-unveiling ceremony is held here — the famous Shoton Festival. In the afternoon, drive about 30 km (50 minutes) to visit Sera Monastery, one of the six main monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is solemn and sacred, and here you can watch Tibet's famous Buddhist debates, which usually begin at 15:00 (except Sundays). During the debates, the lamas engage in fierce argument, and you can truly feel the faith and power of Tibetan Buddhism.

Zhaxizong Township to Everest Base Camp by Bike: Rongbuk Monastery + Mount Everest
Cycling distance: about 50 km Cycling duration: about 6 hours Altitude change: Zhaxizong Township 4,200 m → Everest Base Camp 5,200 m After breakfast, set off from Zhaxizong Township and ride directly to Everest Base Camp. Although there are no long steep slopes on the way, cycling at high altitude is still a highly challenging endeavor. Along the ride, you will follow the valley all the way, enjoying continuous distant mountains, vast wilderness, peaceful villages, lively Tibetan sheep, and more. If you are lucky, you may even encounter wild animals such as Tibetan antelopes. As Everest draws near, its majestic and enchanting figure gradually becomes clear. After arriving at [Everest Base Camp], you can take a short rest, then walk to visit [Rongbuk Monastery]. This is the highest monastery in the world and also the best viewpoint for the north face of Everest, only 20 km from the peak. Here, you can enter the monastery to visit this ancient temple standing beneath the snowy sky, where time seems to stand still. You can also look out at Everest from the white stupa outside the monastery, which is also the most common scene in many Everest postcards and posters. If you have good stamina, you can continue along the road to the Everest altitude stone marker and take a photo as a souvenir. In the evening, stay in a tent at Base Camp (the tents are multi-person rooms with limited conditions, and they close in winter, in which case you will stay in a guesthouse in a village near Everest instead).
