Lhasa-Kading Valley-Nyingchi
Today you will head to Nyingchi, known as the "Jiangnan of Tibet," driving on the upgraded National Highway 318, the "Lhasa-Nyingchi Highway," heading south all the way along the beautiful Nyang River. The total distance is more than 400 kilometers, with about 5 hours of driving. As part of the Sichuan-Tibet high-grade highway and the Yunnan-Tibet high-grade highway, the Lhasa-Nyingchi Highway relies on the magnificent natural landscapes of the snowy plateau. Along the way there are snow-capped mountains, forests, and grasslands. You can drive slowly along the route and photograph the scenery! Before arriving in Nyingchi city proper, you will first visit [Kading Valley]. Kading Valley is known as "heaven on earth." Walking into the canyon on foot, the ravine is narrow and deep, and with the gurgling sound of water from far to near, it feels as if you have entered a primeval forest. Here the mountains are high and the valleys deep, with grotesque peaks and strange rocks, ancient towering trees, and even bamboo groves.

Nyingchi-Sergyila Mountain-Lulang Forest Sea-Basum Tso
After breakfast, begin the Nyingchi itinerary, heading along National Highway 318 to Lulang, crossing the 4,728-meter-high Sejila Pass along the way. Sejila Pass is located east of Nyingchi County and is part of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains. Standing at the pass, you can fully enjoy the sea of clouds and sea of forests, and also gaze into the distance at the 7,782-meter-high Namcha Barwa, known as "China's most beautiful mountain peak." After leaving Sejila Pass, you will continue eastward to Lulang, which resembles Jiangnan. Lulang Forest Sea is a forest of cloud-shrouded mountains and misty seas, reputed as a "natural oxygen bar." The entire scenic area is picturesque, surrounded by snow mountains, with lush forests in the valleys and meadows so neat they look artificially trimmed. Horses graze freely, and cooking smoke curls from Tibetan villages, offering a distinctive charm. When in Nyingchi, you must try the most famous local specialty, Stone Pot Chicken. Stone Pot Chicken is a famous delicacy in Tibet's Nyingchi region. Made with hand-shaped ginseng and free-range chicken and slowly stewed in a stone pot, Lulang Stone Pot Chicken has a very unique flavor, with a faint medicinal fragrance in the soup and tender yet springy chicken. The stone pot used for stewing chicken is carved from a mica stone called "soapstone," and this stone is produced only in Medog. Porters must carry the raw stone out of Medog, and then the Monba people carefully hand-carve it from a single block of stone. During processing, the force must be even; if one is impatient, the soapstone will immediately be pierced through, so this kind of stone pot is also very expensive. The dark green mica stone pot has particularly good heat retention and is said to be rich in 17 mineral trace elements such as magnesium and iron. After lingering and sightseeing in Lulang, drive back. After passing Nyingchi, head toward Lhasa for several dozen kilometers to another holy site, Basum Tso, where you will stay overnight.
🍽️ Breakfast included, lunch on your own, dinner on your own 🏨 Basum Lake
D4
Basum Tso-Lhasa
Wake up in the morning amid the lake and mountain scenery of Basum Lake Scenic Area (about 1 hour of sightseeing). Basum Lake Scenic Area combines snow-capped mountains, lakes, forests, waterfalls, pastures, and famous ancient temples, with distinctive scenery that changes with the four seasons. It is a national forest park and a 5A-level scenic area. The island in the center of Basum Lake is the core scenic area. Walking around the island in a clockwise direction, you can see the peach tree embracing a pine, the former water burial platform, the "alphabet tree" whose leaves naturally bear Tibetan letters, the sacred spring where Padmasambhava washed his face, and the distant mountains blending with the lake water. On the island stands an ancient Tsozong Gongba Temple, where you can see another side of Tibetan religion—worship of reproduction. These are placed on both sides of the temple's stone steps, male on the left and female on the right, also symbolizing respect for life. The fairy-tale-like Jieba Village is the best spot to view Basum Lake and the two surrounding snow-capped mountains, the "King's Throne" and the "Burning Flame." This place has not been developed and has no commercial atmosphere; everything we see is bestowed by nature. The clear small river is surrounded by mountains and flows gently; on the meadows, horses, cattle, and sheep dotted like stars graze and stroll leisurely. After the visit, drive back to Lhasa. Basum Lake is about 350 kilometers from Lhasa, and the drive takes about 4 hours.

Lhasa Day Tour: Potala Palace, Sera Monastery
After breakfast, your guide will lead you to visit Tibet's iconic tourist attraction, the greatest palace in Tibet, the [Potala Palace]. Legend has it that Songtsen Gampo spent half of his life conquering Tubo and the other half building magnificent palaces and temples. Led by your guide, you will wander among the golden Buddhist halls, stupas, living quarters, and corridors, where the dim lights, lowered curtains, and the scent of butter pervading the air make it feel as if you have fallen into an ancient dream, involuntarily losing yourself in the scriptures, Buddha statues, murals, and distant legends. During peak season, the visiting time is limited, generally around 1 hour. During the off-season, the visiting time can be slightly extended. In the afternoon, you will follow your guide to [Sera Monastery] in the northern suburbs of Lhasa, where the famous monk debates take place. [Sera Monastery], as one of the six major monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism, is also known along with Drepung Monastery and Ganden Monastery as the three great monasteries of Lhasa. The monastery preserves tens of thousands of Vajra Buddha statues, among which the most famous statue, the "Hayagriva" Vajra statue, is located in the protector deity hall of the Jizha Tratsang. Locals will put their heads into a small shrine and touch the base of the statue with their heads. Apart from the solemnity of the monastery, Sera Monastery has another major feature, which is the debate activities of the monks in the monastery. In the center of the debate courtyard, monks are debating knowledge; some use forceful clapping to urge the other side to answer, while others pull their prayer beads to draw on the power of the beads to defeat their opponents. Standing in the debate courtyard, you are immersed in the lively sounds. Although visitors cannot understand their Zen meaning, they can truly feel the faith and power of Tibetan Buddhism. The debate usually starts at 15:00. If the monastery temporarily holds Dharma assemblies or other events, or receives specific individuals, the debate activities may be canceled. Please understand!!! After the visit, the guide and driver will take you back to the hotel, and you can choose where to have dinner on your own.

Lhasa-Namtso-Damxung
After breakfast, set off for Namtso. The journey from Lhasa to Namtso is about 250 kilometers and takes around 4 hours. On the way to Namtso, you will cross the Lakenla Pass at an altitude of 5,190 meters. The altitude here is quite high and the wind is strong, so pay attention to symptoms of altitude sickness. 【Namtso】The lake surface is at an altitude of 4,718 meters, making it the highest saltwater lake in the world and the second largest in China. To the south lies the year-round snow-capped Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, while the north and west sides feature highland hills, vast lakeshores, and grasslands surrounding the lake with lush water and grass; the lake water has a high salt content, and the basin is rich in wildlife resources, including yaks and goats; the lake is home to many wild birds and produces fine-scaled fish and scaleless fish; the lake water is crystal clear, reflecting the surrounding snow mountains, with beautiful scenery, like a sparkling pearl inlaid on the vast Changtang grasslands. What we usually visit is the Tashi Peninsula of Namtso, which is the best spot to view Namtso and the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains. After the visit, return to Damxung for accommodation. Namtso to Damxung is about 40 kilometers and takes around 1.5 hours by car. Due to Namtso's high altitude, accommodation is generally not arranged here; Damxung is at 3,800 meters, so altitude sickness is relatively less likely. After arriving in Damxung, if time permits, you can take a stroll on the nearby grasslands.
