After breakfast, you will depart from Zedang for Shigatse in Tsang. Along the way, you will cross the [Gampa La Pass] at 5,030 meters, which is also the best spot to overlook Yamdrok Lake. The azure sky and lake waters reflect each other, and the pure lake water displays different shades of blue under the sunlight, a breathtaking sight. Afterwards, you will visit the world's highest freshwater lake - Yamdrok Lake. [Yamdrok Lake], abbreviated as Yamdrok, means "Swan Lake" in Tibetan. At 4,441 meters, it is one of the three sacred lakes of Tibet, with beauty unrivaled in southern Tibet. The clear lake water, towering snow mountains, and crystal-clear blue sky merge into one, and the picturesque scenery is unforgettable. After visiting Yamdrok Lake, you will drive through Nagarze to visit [Karo La Glacier] at over 5,000 meters. Karo La Glacier is located by the roadside, like a giant thangka hanging on the mountain wall, crystal clear and pure white, so close it seems you could touch it. Then you will continue toward Shigatse, passing [Noijin Kangsang Snow Mountain] and [Manla Reservoir]. Noijin Kangsang Snow Mountain is shrouded in clouds year-round, with snowflakes drifting down, accumulating and compacting over the years to form ice layers 20-100 meters thick. The ice layers, affected by their own gravity, slowly move and develop into multiple glaciers. Manla Reservoir is similar to Yamdrok Lake, a stretch of emerald water nestled among the mountains. Although it is a man-made reservoir, the emerald-green water reflecting the distant mountains makes it exceptionally beautiful. Then arrive in Shigatse for overnight stay.

Shigatse - Lhatse - Langtso - Sangsang Grassland - Sobila Mountain - Saga

After breakfast, you will drive to Saga. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful plateau lake [Langtso] and the vast [Sang Sang Grassland], with the plateau scenery along the way being even more breathtaking. Afterwards, you will arrive at Daoban, which is the junction between the southern and northern routes of Ngari. Then you will continue along the southern route of Ngari, passing through a hot spring area dense with hot springs and shrouded in mist, and drive past the beautiful scenery of emerald-green lakes reflecting the blue sky. In the distance, protected wild animals such as wild donkeys, Tibetan gazelles, blue sheep, Tibetan antelopes, wild hares, and ruddy shelducks race across the grassland, like a vivid classical ink painting. In the evening, stay overnight in Saga.

Route A (no kora): Saga - Zhongba - Lake Manasarovar - Rakshastal - Tarchen

In the early morning, facing the first rays of sunlight, you will head west all the way along National Highway 219 to Tarchen. On the way you will pass through Paryang Town under Zhongba County, a small town with a strong western flavor and also the highest town in the world at an elevation of 4,700 meters, where you can enjoy the vast grassland scenery along the route. Afterwards, go to visit the sacred lake [Lake Manasarovar] and the ghost lake [Rakshastal]. Lake Manasarovar has the reputation of being the "Mother of Rivers of the World" and is the place called "Jade Pond of the Western Heaven" by the Tang dynasty monk Xuanzang in his Great Tang Records on the Western Regions. It is also one of the three famous sacred lakes of Tibet and, together with Mount Kailash, is known as the "Sacred Mountain and Holy Lake." The clear waters of Lake Manasarovar reflect the blue sky, vast and open. The lakeshore is further embraced by the Namnani Snow Mountains, and the lake and mountain scenery is utterly enchanting. Separated from the sacred lake by only a bank is the barren Rakshastal, known as the ghost lake. It is said that the bottoms of Lake Manasarovar and Rakshastal are connected, with one side being the freshwater sacred lake and the other the saltwater ghost lake. B Route (Kora): Saga-Zhongba-Lake Manasarovar-Rakshastal-Tarchen-Mount Kailash kora starting point-Drirapuk Monastery Today you will set out from Saga for Tarchen. Along the way you can view from afar the sacred lake Manasarovar and the ghost lake Rakshastal, and afterwards arrive at the starting point of the Mount Kailash kora to begin today's kora itinerary: Tarchen (elevation 4,675 meters) heading west → Two-Legged Stupa, prayer flag pole → Chuku Monastery (elevation 4,860 meters) → Drirapuk Monastery (elevation 5,210 meters) Climbing up along the valley, blue sky and snow mountains accompany you all the way, with an occasional river winding past, letting you experience the uncanny workmanship of nature with the most authentic perception. Along the way, you will also see the west and north faces of Mount Kailash, one side towering into the clouds while the other rises in endless layers, stretching on without break. Amid the winding trek, a wonderful encounter with a mountain peak lets you sample a unique, multifaceted perspective and experience it deeply. After about 22 kilometers of kora, you will arrive at Drirapuk Monastery, where amid the fluttering colorful prayer flags you will fall asleep with piety toward faith and reverence for nature. Note: Before Tarchen the itinerary is by vehicle; from Tarchen to Drirapuk Monastery is a trekking section. If you need porters or guides, the cost is at your own expense.

Route A (no kora): Tarchen - Mount Kailash - Zanda Earth Forest - Zanda - Guge Kingdom - Tarchen

Today you will set off from Tarchen and first visit the sacred Mount Kailash. 【Mount Kailash】is called "Shiva's Paradise" in Sanskrit and means "Mountain of the Gods" in Tibetan. Shaped like a pyramid with perfectly symmetrical sides, Mount Kailash is a globally recognized sacred mountain and is regarded by Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, the indigenous Tibetan religion Bon, and ancient Jainism as the center of the world. The mystery of the sacred mountain lies in the fact that its sun-facing side, for some unknown reason, remains snow-covered year-round, while the back side has no snow for most of the year—even when covered by white snow, it melts as soon as the sun comes out, exactly the opposite of the usual natural order. Afterward, you will visit the Zhada Earth Forest. 【Zhada Earth Forest】was formed over tens of millions of years of geological changes from the basin of an ancient large lake and the bed of a great river. Within an area of nearly several hundred square kilometers, the earth forest is filled with jagged "trees" of varying shapes, and there are also cave sites of early humans here. After visiting the Zhada Earth Forest, you will go to see the mysterious Guge Kingdom. 【The Ruins of the Guge Kingdom】is an ancient city on the plateau. The entire site comprises over 300 houses and caves, 3 stupas (over 10 meters high), 4 temples, 2 halls, and 2 underground tunnels, divided into upper, middle, and lower levels, which were, in order, the royal palace, temples, and residences. An outer city wall was built, with watchtowers at the four corners. The Guge Kingdom, which once had a splendid civilization lasting seven hundred years, remains a mystery as to why it disappeared. For those who choose the kora (circumambulation), today is still part of the kora itinerary. Route B (Kora): Zhire Temple - Sky Burial Platform - Dolma La Pass - Zutrul Phuk - Tarchen Today you will cross the highest point of this kora—【Dolma La Pass】at 5,630 meters above sea level. At Dolma La Pass, countless prayer flags flutter in the wind, conveying people's good wishes. After passing Dolma La Pass, you will come to a beautiful lake—【Tukje Lake】. In Tibetan, Tukje Lake means "Lake of Compassion," and Hindus believe it is where Parvati, the wife of Shiva, bathed. Afterward, you will continue to 【Zutrul Phuk】, where the legendary Milarepa Cave is located. After leaving Zutrul Phuk, you will continue onward, crossing grasslands and canyons before returning to the final destination, Tarchen.

Tarchen - Gongzhu Tso - Maquan River Wetland Park - Zhongba - Saga

Today you will return from Tarchen to Saga. Along the way, ice peaks and snow ridges are visible everywhere, with cliffs and precipices at every turn. The unique plateau scenery irresistibly attracts countless explorers to conquer, experience, and appreciate it. On the way back, you will first visit the beautiful plateau saltwater lake [Gongzhu Tso]. Surrounding Gongzhu Tso are the pristine mountains at the edge of the Himalayas and the Gangdise Range. The grasslands, multicolored mountains, snow peaks, lake waters, and the layers formed by the morning sun shining on the mountain bodies all make one marvel at nature's masterpiece. After visiting Gongzhu Tso, you will continue to visit the Maquan River Wetland Park. [Maquan River Wetland Park] is a marsh dominated by Tibetan sedge and flat-sedge communities. It is a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, with the Gangdise Mountains to the north and the Himalayas to the south. Glacial meltwater from the mountains on both sides forms numerous rivers that converge into the Maquan River, creating many lakes in the valley plains near the source and the middle reaches, with scattered marsh development. Then arrive in Saga for overnight stay.

Saga - Mount Shishapangma - Peiku Tso - Tingri - Rongbuk Monastery - Basong Village - Everest Base Camp

After breakfast, you will drive to the most stunning glacier group in the Himalayas, the Shishapangma Glacier Group. [Shishapangma Peak] stands at 8,012 meters, ranking fourteenth among the world's 14 peaks above 8,000 meters, and is the only 8,000-meter peak entirely within China. The most fascinating feature is the ice tower area between 5,000 and 5,800 meters, which is serene and beautiful, like a glacier garden. Under the sunlight, Shishapangma Peak is covered in white snow, magnificent to behold. Then head to Peiku Tso, covering about 300 square kilometers, with various unique Tibetan plateau species along its shores. Afterwards, drive to Everest Base Camp. At the Gyawu La Pass, there is the world's most spectacular mountain-viewing platform, where you can photograph the continuous chain of Everest snow mountains. Next, visit the world's highest temple — [Rongbuk Monastery] (elevation 4,980 meters). Looking south from Rongbuk Monastery is universally recognized as the best spot to gaze upon Everest. In the morning you will take in the magnificent scenery of Mount Everest at Everest Base Camp, the world's highest-altitude Mount Everest Nature Reserve. Afterwards you will set off for Shigatse. After crossing the [Gyawu La Pass] at an elevation of 5,300 meters, you will arrive at Lhatse, which in Tibetan means "the golden peak first illuminated by light." This is the place of origin of Tibetan knives, where you can buy the best Tibetan knives, and you can also check in at the monument marking [Shanghai People's Square to Lhatse, Tibet]. Afterwards you will continue onward, and after crossing the [Gyatso La Pass] at an elevation of 5,248 meters, arrive in Shigatse. Then take the 19:00 train from Shigatse back to Lhasa the same afternoon; our agency will purchase the train ticket (hard seat).
