First, you will visit the historic Xi'an Ancient City Wall. 【Xi'an Ancient City Wall】was first built in the Ming Dynasty, also known as the Xi'an Ming City Wall. It is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient city walls in China. You can climb onto the wall, walk on the historic blue bricks, and feel the charm of the ancient city wall, or ride a bicycle (optional) to tour it and enjoy the superb scenery formed by the ancient city wall and the modern cityscape together. Afterwards, you will visit Xi'an's famous food and culture street - 【Muslim Quarter】, where you can experience the local living atmosphere while tasting local specialty snacks. In addition, the Great Mosque in Huajue Lane near the Muslim Quarter is also well worth a visit. It is a typical Islamic mosque formed by combining Chinese architectural style with Islamic architectural features, and is very distinctive. After the tour, return to the hotel to check in and rest. After breakfast, you will drive about 40 minutes to visit one of the "Eighth Wonders of the World," the Terracotta Army of Qin Shi Huang. 【The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses】is a site museum built on the original location of the terracotta pits and is China's largest ancient military museum. With the vivid commentary of a professional guide, you will visit Pits No. 1, 2, and 3 in sequence, learning about the historical background of the Terracotta Army, the craftsmanship, and the little-known stories behind these thousand-year-old clay figures buried in the river of history. After the visit, you can also participate in a local specialty experience activity—DIY a miniature terracotta warrior. Under the guidance of a local potter, you will make a small terracotta warrior by hand, experience the pottery craft, and take home a unique travel souvenir. After lunch, you will visit Xi'an's famous cultural landmark—the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. 【The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda】is located within Daci'en Temple and is the earliest and largest existing square pavilion-style brick pagoda of the Tang Dynasty. The pagoda has 7 stories and stands about 64 meters tall. Here you can admire the ancient architectural style, view the Buddhist scriptures and statues brought back from India by Master Xuanzang that are housed in the pagoda, and climb this thousand-year-old pagoda to overlook the cityscape of Xi'an. Since ancient times, Dunhuang has been a key route on the Silk Road connecting China to the Western Regions, Central Asia, and Europe, always playing the role of a thriving commercial and economic center. Today, Dunhuang exists as an artistic and cultural center where Eastern and Western cultures blend, and can be described as a "Silk Pearl" in the vast Gobi. Dunhuang Museum (closed on Mondays, reservation required): Its architectural design is unique, incorporating elements such as the Great Wall, beacon towers, and ancient castles. The museum has a rich collection of approximately 13,524 items (sets), among which the Western Han hemp paper ink writing (one of China's earliest paper artifacts), the Northern Liang stone pagoda (a treasure of Buddhist art), and the 1:1 replica cave of Mogao Cave 45 (fully presenting the murals and painted sculptures of the High Tang) are treasures worth examining closely. 2. Dunhuang Shazhou Night Market: This is one of the most representative night markets in Dunhuang. You can taste authentic Dunhuang cuisine, such as apricot juice, donkey meat yellow noodles, pao'er yougao (fried pastry), braised lamb with flatbread, and red willow skewer grilled lamb. Suggested Ways to Reach Dunhuang 1. Fly to Dunhuang from Xi'an: Dunhuang Mogao International Airport (Dunhuang Airport, DNH) is about 13 kilometers from downtown Dunhuang and about 22 kilometers from the Mogao Caves. There are direct flights between Dunhuang and Xi'an (flight time about 2 hours 40 minutes). Since not all routes operate year-round, please be sure to check flight schedules in advance. 2. Take the train to Dunhuang from Xi'an: Dunhuang Station is about 10 kilometers from downtown Dunhuang, and there are direct trains from Xi'an North to Dunhuang, with a journey time of about 11 hours; Liuyuan South Station is about 130 kilometers from downtown Dunhuang, and there are direct trains from Xi'an North to Liuyuan South, with a journey time of about 9 hours. Since some trains do not operate year-round, please be sure to check train information in advance.

Today, you will embark on a wonderful Dunhuang cultural journey. After breakfast, head to the Mogao Caves, one of China's four great grottoes. Also known as the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas, the 【Mogao Caves】 are hailed as the "Treasure House of Eastern Art," the world's largest and richest surviving site of Buddhist art, and a witness to the convergence of diverse civilizations along the ancient Silk Road. They were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Carved over a period of a thousand years, the caves contain vast and richly varied murals, painted sculptures, and grottoes, making them a world-renowned treasure house of Buddhist art. Upon arriving at the Mogao Caves scenic area, you may first visit the Mogao Caves Digital Exhibition Center to watch a fascinating digital film, "Millennium Mogao," for a preliminary understanding of the site. Then take a shuttle bus to the cave area (PS: photography is prohibited inside the caves). Led by a guide, you will visit 8 caves in succession, such as the Library Cave (Caves 16–17, the largest cave), the Nine-Story Tower (the common name for the wooden structure outside Cave 96, one of the iconic buildings of the Mogao Caves), and the Nirvana Cave (Cave 148, where the reclining Buddha is located)... The specific caves visited depend on actual on-site arrangements, but several classic caves will be included. If interested, you can visit the Dunhuang Grottoes Cultural Relics Protection and Research Exhibition Center to see 1:1 replicas of 8 highly representative caves, including Caves 275, 249, 419, 220, 217, 3, and 25 (photography permitted). After the visit, you can return to the hotel to rest and enjoy lunch. Optional visit Dunhuang Bookstore (reservation required): A popular Dunhuang attraction, a modern lifestyle aesthetic space combining reading, cultural creative products, coffee, and events. In the afternoon, you will visit the 【Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake】, hailed as one of "China's Five Most Beautiful Deserts." Mingsha Mountain is formed by shifting sand, with peaks over a hundred meters high and steep slopes. The slopes show wave-like sand ripples, and when people slide down from the top, the sand produces a sound like chiming bells, hence the name. It is said that on cloudless days when the wind stops and the sand is still, one can even hear the sound of string and bamboo instruments, which is truly marvelous. Located at the foot of Mingsha Mountain, Crescent Lake is named for its crescent shape. The water is crystal clear, and despite years of fierce winds and sandstorms blotting out the sun, this clear spring has never overflowed in heavy rain nor dried up in drought for thousands of years. Here you can stroll in the desert and enjoy the beautiful scenery of "a solitary column of smoke rising straight in the vast desert, and the setting sun round over the long river" and "silver mountains surrounded by sand on all sides, a pool of clear water with green ripples." You may also choose various activities (at your own expense), such as camel riding, sand sledding, beach buggies, off-road vehicles, and hang gliders... Afterward, you can wander through the Dunhuang Shazhou Night Market (optional) and taste authentic Dunhuang delicacies, such as apricot juice, donkey meat with yellow noodles, pao'er yougao (fried pastry), braised lamb with flatbread, and red willow branch grilled lamb. "Music of Dunhuang" (performed year-round): The world's first cave-style immersive theater, telling the story of Bai Xin, a young man from the Western Regions in the early Tang Dynasty, on his journey to find music. The performance uses modern technology combined with live performance to recreate the music, dance, poetry, costumes, and painting elements from Dunhuang murals. 2. "Dunhuang Grand Ceremony" (peak season only): The world's first large-scale desert live-action performance, set against Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake. Through a 360-degree rotating and moving audience seating area, it tells the poignant love story of a young painter and a princess, recreating the former prosperity of the ancient Silk Road and showcasing Dunhuang's unique cultural charm (including the "Molten Iron Fireworks" show). 3. "Encore Dunhuang" (peak season only): A large-scale indoor experiential theater directed by Wang Chaoge, one of the chief directors of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The audience travels through the Library Cave and the Mogao Caves, personally experiencing Dunhuang culture and the splendor of the Silk Road. 4. "Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes" (peak season only): A large-scale theatrical production performed by the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe, telling the folk story of "Miaoshan Saving Her Father." The dance movements are graceful, the cultural connotations profound, and the artistic standard extremely high. Notes 1. To protect the caves, the Mogao Caves implement a real-name reservation system with daily visitor limits. Tickets are divided into Type A (6,000 per day) and Type B (12,000 per day, with priority for domestic tourists). Type A includes 8 caves and 2 digital films; Type B includes 4 caves and the Cave Cultural Relics Protection and Research Exhibition Center. 2. On the day of your visit, please follow the visiting arrangements of the Mogao Caves management department. The order of visiting Mingsha Mountain and the Mogao Caves may be adjusted. 3. If you are particularly interested in the caves, you can also purchase on-site tickets for special caves (queues may be required) to explore more exquisite caves. Special caves (at your own expense) are divided into Line 1 (Caves 45, 320, 321, 420, 9, 428) and Line 2 (Caves 275, 45, 156, 158). 4. During the Dunhuang Cultural Expo or in case of severe weather or other factors affecting visits, if the Mogao Caves cannot be visited as planned, our agency will refund the Mogao Caves ticket according to actual costs, or arrange a visit to the Western Thousand Buddha Caves as an alternative. 5.
