First, you will drive about 17 kilometers to visit Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in the northern suburbs of Chengdu, to see China's adorable national treasure, the giant panda, and learn about their living habits and conservation status. [Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding], referred to as Chengdu Panda Base, has raised more than 100 giant pandas and is the base with the largest number of captive giant pandas in the world. Here, you can see giant pandas of different ages playing, eating, climbing hills, climbing trees, sleeping, and other cute and interesting scenes in the park. You can also follow the guide to visit the Chengdu Giant Panda Museum to learn more stories about pandas. If you visit in autumn, you may also have the chance to see adorable giant panda cubs in the Moon Nursery and Sun Nursery. Moreover, the famous Chinese panda star Hua Hua lives here, known for her cute appearance and unique personality, and is called a "top female celebrity." In addition, besides giant pandas, at Chengdu Panda Base you can also see red pandas (rarer than giant pandas), Baer's pochards, golden pheasants, collared scops owls, and other rare animals. (Note: 1. Giant pandas prefer cool weather and are more active in the morning, so it is recommended to arrive early to see more natural panda behavior; 2. Admission to Chengdu Giant Panda Museum is free, but advance reservation is required, and it is closed every Monday.)
Afterwards, you will drive about 1 hour to visit the Sichuan Cuisine Museum in Pidu District, Chengdu, to gain an in-depth understanding of the diverse Sichuan cuisine culture. [Sichuan Cuisine Museum] is the only museum in the world themed on cuisine culture, and also China's only "edible museum," allowing you to experience the charm of Sichuan cuisine in an all-round way through sight, smell, taste, and touch. Today's Sichuan food journey begins with tasting classic specialty Sichuan snacks, such as San Da Pao, Lai Tangyuan, Guokui, Dan Dan Noodles, and others. These snacks are authentic in flavor and are a paradise for food lovers. Then, go to the collection hall to see precious cultural relics related to Sichuan cuisine and learn about the history, culture, and evolution of Sichuan cuisine. Among them, the "Blue-and-White Pickle Jar with Four Landscape and Figure Panels from the Kangxi Period of the Qing Dynasty" is the treasure of the museum and worth seeing. Next, go to the Sichuan cuisine ingredient display area to learn about the production process of ingredients such as doubanjiang and soy sauce. You can also personally turn the doubanjiang and ladle soy sauce, experiencing the fun of the 300-year-old brewing craft of "the soul of Sichuan cuisine - Pixian doubanjiang." After that, visit the Kitchen God Temple (the largest Kitchen God temple in China), listen to the story of the Kitchen God, learn the rituals of worship, feel the reverence for ingredients and nature in Sichuan cuisine culture, and reflect on the life philosophy that "every meal should remind us of its hard-won nature." The cooking class guided by professional chefs in the interactive demonstration hall is a highlight. Here, you can learn to make classic Sichuan dishes such as Mapo Tofu and Kung Pao Chicken, as well as creative and fun Sichuan dishes such as glutinous rice giant panda, adding a unique "Sichuan flavor" to your journey, experiencing the endless fun and charm of Sichuan cuisine, and deepening your understanding of Sichuan cuisine culture.
