Lhasa-Yamdrok Lake-Gyantse-Shigatse

In the morning, you will depart from Lhasa by vehicle, following National Highway 318 before branching off at the bridge, traveling all the way through the scenery of the Yarlung Tsangpo River to Gambala Pass (elevation 4,990 meters). This is the perfect spot to overlook one of the "Three Great Sacred Lakes of Tibet" — Yamdrok Lake (elevation 4,441 meters). From the Tibetan-style viewing platform adorned with fluttering colorful prayer flags and a massive mani pile, you can gaze at the clear, calm lake surface shimmering in the sunlight, shifting through varying shades of light blue, deep blue, and sky blue, reflecting the washed-clean blue sky, with towering snow-capped mountains in the distance — a breathtaking scene unrivaled in southern Tibet. If you are lucky, you may even witness the extraordinary sight of dark clouds on one side, a brilliant rainbow on another, and endless rosy clouds on yet another. After lunch at Nagarze, you will continue by vehicle to visit Karola Glacier (elevation 5,000 meters). Karola Glacier stands right beside the road, like a giant thangka hanging on the mountain wall — crystal clear, pure white, and so close it seems you could reach out and touch it. Next, head to the ancient town of Gyantse, home of anti-British heroes. This town with over 600 years of history was also a key transportation hub connecting Front Tibet to Rear Tibet. You can view the Zongshan Anti-British Ruins from afar, and visit Pelkor Chode Monastery — the only monastery in Tibet that integrates the three major sects, featuring stunning murals and carvings and the Hundred Thousand Buddha Stupa. Finally, arrive at Shigatse, the capital of Rear Tibet, for overnight accommodation.

Shigatse-Lhatse-Saga

After breakfast, you will travel by car to Lhatse. Along the way you can enjoy the Sang Sang Grassland, snow mountains, sunshine, cattle and sheep, and other plateau scenery. Then you will cross the 4,710-meter-high Bangla Pass, and afterwards arrive at Docang, which is the junction of the Ali Southern Route and Northern Route. Then you will continue along the Ali Southern Route. Along the way you will pass through a hot spring area dense with hot springs and shrouded in mist, and view from the car the beautiful scenery of emerald-green lakes reflecting the blue sky. In the distance, protected wild animals such as wild donkeys, Tibetan gazelles, blue sheep, Tibetan antelopes, wild hares, and ruddy shelducks race across the grasslands, like a vivid classical ink painting. In the evening, stay overnight in Saga.

Saga-Mount Kailash-Lake Manasarovar-Burang

In the morning, you will depart from Saga for the sacred mountain and holy lake. First, you will visit the holy lake Lake Manasarovar, known as the "Mother of Rivers of the World." It is the place referred to as the "Jade Pool of the Western Heaven" by the Tang dynasty monk Xuanzang in his Great Tang Records on the Western Regions, and it is one of Tibet's three great sacred lakes. Together with Mount Kailash, they are known as the "Sacred Mountain and Holy Lake." Lake Manasarovar also has the highest measured transparency of any lake in China, reaching up to 14 meters, crystal clear and transparent. The clear lake water reflects the blue sky, vast and expansive. The lake is surrounded by the Namnanani Snow Mountains, and the lake and mountain scenery is enchanting. Separated from the holy lake by a narrow strip of land is the barren Lake Rakshastal, known as the Ghost Lake. It is said that Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal are connected beneath the surface—one is a freshwater holy lake, the other a saltwater ghost lake. Together, they form a remarkable wonder. After lunch in Parang, you will pass through the Mayum Bridge border checkpoint to Tarchen, where you will pay homage to the sacred mountain—Mount Kailash. At 6,638 meters above sea level, Mount Kailash is called "Shiva's Paradise" in Sanskrit and means "Mountain of the Gods" in Tibetan. Its shape resembles a pyramid with perfectly symmetrical sides. It is a globally recognized sacred mountain and is regarded by Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism, the indigenous Tibetan religion Bon, and ancient Jainism as the center of the world. The mystery of the sacred mountain lies in the fact that its sunny side, for unknown reasons, remains snow-covered year-round, while the back side has no snow for most of the year—even when covered in snow, it melts as soon as the sun comes out, contrary to the usual laws of nature. Next, you will head to Purang, where the world-renowned Himalayas and Gangdise ranges intertwine. Located in the basin valley on the southern side of the Gangdise range at the northern foot of the western Himalayas, it is a gently rolling plateau basin. On the Ali Plateau, known for its dry and cold climate, Purang is the warmest and most humid place. You will stay overnight in Purang. Burang-Barga (Darchen)-Zanda

At 8 a.m., you will depart from Burang, driving at dawn between Mount Kailash and Mount Naimona'nyi, passing through the earth forest to Tsada to visit the [Ruins of the Guge Kingdom]. The Guge Kingdom ruins are an ancient plateau city. The entire site comprises over 300 houses and caves, 3 stupas (over 10 meters tall), 4 temples, 2 halls, and 2 underground tunnels, divided into upper, middle, and lower levels, which were respectively the royal palace, temples, and residences. An outer wall was built with watchtowers at the four corners. The Guge Kingdom was established around the 10th century AD by Kyide Nyimagon, great-grandson of Langdarma, the last emperor of the Tibetan Empire, who after the empire's collapse fled with his followers to Ngari and founded it. The Guge Kingdom, which once had a glorious civilization lasting 700 years, remains a mystery as to why it disappeared. After touring the Guge Kingdom, you will return along the same route to Tsada County to visit the over 900-year-old [Tholing Monastery]. This monastery blends Indian Kashmiri, Ladakhi, and Nepalese styles in both architecture and Buddhist statues, and is a culmination of architectural and statue styles from various regions. The Indian monk Atisha once lectured and wrote here, spreading the Dharma. Thereafter, many great masters left their footprints here. Overnight in Tsada. Zanda-Zhongba

In the morning, you will depart from Zanda County for the Zanda Earth Forest. The Zanda Earth Forest was formed over tens of millions of years of geological changes from the bed of an ancient great lake and river. Within an area of nearly several hundred square kilometers, the earth forest is filled with towering and varied "trees" of earth in all shapes and forms, and there are also early human cave dwelling ruins here. Spanning hundreds of kilometers, the Zanda Earth Forest appears resplendent in gold from afar; set against the magical light and shadows of the plateau, it resembles a mythical world. Up close, you will see the earth forest surrounding both banks of the Sutlej River, with endless wonders of nature's craftsmanship. These unparalleled spectacles resemble solemn and magnificent temples, heavily fortified watchtowers, towering stupas, extravagantly luxurious ancient palaces, and rustic yet majestic European-style castles. Zhongba-Saga-Mount Everest Base Camp

After breakfast, you will travel by car to the most moving glacier group in the Himalayas, the Shishapangma Glacier Group. 【Shishapangma】 has an elevation of 8,012 meters and ranks fourteenth among the world's 14 peaks above 8,000 meters. It is the only 8,000-meter peak entirely within China. Its most fascinating feature is the ice tower area between 5,000 and 5,800 meters, statically beautiful, like a glacier garden. Under the sunlight, Shishapangma is blanketed in white snow, spectacular to behold. Then head to Peiku Tso, covering more than 300 square kilometers, with various unique Tibetan plateau species along its shores, and afterwards drive to Mount Everest Base Camp. At the Gawu La Pass is the world's most spectacular mountain-viewing platform, where you can photograph the continuous chain of Everest snow mountains. In the morning, you will experience the magnificent scenery of Mount Everest at Everest Base Camp, the world's highest-altitude nature reserve. Afterwards, you will depart from Tingri for Shigatse, passing through Lhatse along the way. In Tibetan, Lhatse means "the golden peak first illuminated by light." Shigatse-Tashilhunpo Monastery-Lhasa

In the morning, you will visit [Tashilhunpo Monastery], the residence monastery of successive Panchen Lamas (approximately 2-2.5 hours). Built in 1447, it is one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school. It enshrines the world's largest indoor bronze seated Buddha statue, the Maitreya Buddha, constructed in 1914 under the supervision of the 9th Panchen Lama, Chökyi Nyima. The monastery also houses precious Buddhist scriptures written in gold powder, such as the Kangyur and Tengyur. After the visit, you will drive back to Lhasa, enjoying along the way the breathtaking scenery of the Lhasa River Valley composed of shallow waters, distant forests, mountain shadows, blue sky and white clouds, sunlight, grassy meadows, reflections, shimmering water, and ripples. Finally, return to your hotel in Lhasa for rest.
