In the remaining time, you can rest well at the hotel and let your body slowly adapt to the high-altitude environment. Arrival Suggestions By plane: Lhasa Gonggar Airport is the main gateway airport of Tibet, with direct flights to and from Chengdu (most popular), Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xining, Kunming, Shangri-La, and other cities. In addition, it has the only international direct flight to Kathmandu, Nepal. By train: Taking the Qinghai-Tibet train to Tibet is also a very popular choice. You can take the train to Tibet from Xining (the starting point of the Qinghai-Tibet train, 21h), Chengdu (36.5h), Chongqing (35.5h), Beijing (40.5h), Shanghai (47h), Guangzhou (52.5h), Xi'an (31h), Lanzhou (24.5h), and other cities. Warm tips 1. Do not do strenuous exercise on the day of arrival in Lhasa, and do not take a shower or drink alcohol. Rest more, drink water, and eat fruit, and do not overeat. You may bring American ginseng lozenges or health supplements such as Rhodiola and Gao Yuan An to relieve altitude sickness. 2. Follow the guide's arrangements, try not to go out for activities, and maintaining a calm mindset and sufficient rest is the best way to prevent altitude sickness. 3. If you feel unwell, please promptly seek help from the guide or hotel staff and go to the hospital for treatment.

After breakfast, head to visit the world's highest ancient palace-fortress complex—the Potala Palace. [Potala Palace] stands on Maburi Hill in the northwest of Lhasa's urban area. It is a magnificent structure combining palace, fortress, and monastery, and is also Tibet's largest and most complete ancient palace-fortress complex. Built against the mountain, the Potala has 13 stories, stands 117.19 meters high, and stretches over 400 meters from east to west. You will climb up along its long staircases, overlooking Lhasa as you go and taking in the grandeur of the city. Pause for photos and rest along the way, then step inside the Potala Palace to explore this mysterious ancient palace for which very few images can be found online. Afterward, visit the holy site in the hearts of Tibetan Buddhist believers—Jokhang Temple. [Jokhang Temple] was first built in 647 AD and has a history of 1,350 years. It is the most splendid surviving Tubo-period building in Tibet, with five golden roofs and 108 Buddha halls. Here you can see the world-rare life-size statue of Shakyamuni at age 12 and devout pilgrims worshipping in front of the Jokhang Temple. Finally, you can stroll through [Barkhor Street]. This is not only the route for local kora rituals but also a very lively old commercial street. You may encounter locals in Tibetan robes and devout pilgrims, wander the alleys to browse handicraft shops, or find a sweet tea house and learn from Tibetan friends their tranquility and contentment. Enjoy a delicious Tibetan dinner in the evening.

After breakfast, drive to [Dadong Village], about 18 km from downtown Lhasa (20 minutes by car). This is one of the best-preserved ancient villages in Tibet and a great place to experience Tibetan rural customs and Tibetan-style villages. The village is located in a hidden valley with beautiful scenery, and locals often come here for Lingka picnics. It is also said that the ruins of the ancient Tsangyang Gyatso estate in the eastern part of Dadong Village were once the place of practice of the 6th Dalai Lama Tsangyang Gyatso, who left behind many romantic love poems here, such as "On That Eastern Mountain Peak." Strolling through the ancient village, in addition to enjoying the pastoral scenery of a Tibetan-style village and learning about the local way of life, you can also visit Nyimatang Monastery. This is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery first built in the 12th century, mainly dedicated to the Eight Medicine Buddhas and Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara. It once had a Tibetan medical school and still preserves a rich collection of Tibetan medical classics, making it the best place to explore Tibetan medicine culture. In the afternoon, drive about 30 km (50 minutes) to visit [Sera Monastery], one of the six main monasteries of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. The monastery is solemn and sacred. Here you can watch Tibet's famous monk debates, which generally start at 15:00 (except Sundays). During the debates, the lamas in the courtyard engage in intense debate, and you can truly feel the faith and power of Tibetan Buddhism.

After breakfast, you will depart from Lhasa and travel by car for about 8–9 hours (about 270 km) to Shigatse, the center of Tsang. Along the way, you will first cross the Gambala Pass at an altitude of 4,990 meters. From the pass, you can take in a panoramic view of Yamdrok Lake drifting among the mountains like a blue ribbon and the majestic Noijin Kangsang Snow Mountain in the distance. Then you will continue toward Yamdrok Lake, the highest freshwater lake in the world, and appreciate its beauty from multiple angles, including the mountainside and the lakeshore. [Yamdrok Lake] is one of the three sacred lakes of Tibet and is also praised as the most beautiful water in the world. The lake water is as clear as a mirror, stretching into the distance and merging with the distant snow mountains, together with the rolling mountains on both banks, creating a stunning scene. Local Tibetans praise Yamdrok Lake in folk songs: "A fairyland in heaven, Yamdrok on earth. Stars in the sky, cattle and sheep by the lake." Afterward, the car will continue driving along the shore of Yamdrok Lake for a while, allowing you to see the beautiful lake again. Then you will visit [Karo-la Glacier], the most accessible glacier in Tibet. The glacier is right beside the highway, like a giant thangka hanging on the mountain wall, crystal clear and pure white, so close that it seems within reach. You can admire the towering glacier from the roadside or walk to its foot to appreciate its grandeur up close. Visiting tips 1. The Karo-la Glacier scenic area is at a high altitude, over 5,000 meters. When walking along the boardwalk, please slow down, and you may also carry a small oxygen bottle to inhale oxygen for relief if you feel unwell. 2. Please beware of photo traps. If a stranger offers to take photos for you, ask in advance whether there is a charge. Afterward, continue to Shigatse and stay overnight at a star-rated hotel in Shigatse.

After breakfast, set off for the world's highest peak - Mount Everest. The drive takes about 6-7 hours (about 330 kilometers). On the way, you will pass [Gyatso La Pass] at an altitude of 5,252 meters, the highest point on the China-Nepal Highway. On clear days, standing at the pass, you can see Mount Everest in the distance. Then arrive at [Everest Base Camp], which is not only the best viewing point for Mount Everest but also the best accommodation point for visiting Everest. Here, you can enjoy the stunning sunrise and sunset over Everest and the starry night sky. Upon first arrival, you can rest and adapt for a while, then walk to visit [Rongbuk Monastery]. This is the highest monastery in the world and also the best viewing point for the north face of Mount Everest, only 20 kilometers from Everest. Here, you can enter the monastery to visit and see this ancient temple standing under the snowy sky, where time seems to stand still. You can also look at Everest from the white stupa outside the monastery, which is also the most common scene in many Everest postcards and posters. If you have good stamina, you can continue along the road to the Everest altitude marker for a group photo. In the evening, stay in a tent at Base Camp (the tents are multi-person rooms with limited conditions and are closed in winter, in which case accommodation will be changed to a guesthouse in a village near Everest).

Early this morning, you might try your luck by getting up early and hoping to encounter the most magnificent sunrise over Mount Everest. Then, after breakfast, return to Shigatse. On the way, you will pass [Gyawu La Pass] at an altitude of 5,200 meters, the world's only viewing platform where you can see five 8,000-meter-class snow peaks (Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Shishapangma). You will stop here for a while and fully enjoy the beautiful snow mountains. Afterward, you will continue onward to Shigatse to visit [Tashilhunpo Monastery], the largest monastery in Shigatse and the seat of successive Panchen Lamas. It was once also the political center of the rear Tibet region. The monastery houses a 28-meter-high seated copper Buddha statue, the world's largest, known as the "Maitreya Buddha" (Jampa Buddha). Here you can visit the Panchen Lama's residence, the sutra college, the stupa halls, and the Buddha-unveiling platform, learn about the long cultural history of Tibetan Buddhism and its development in the rear Tibet region, and also see exquisite murals, carvings, and other cultural relics. If interested, you can also climb to a high point to overlook the entire monastery and the distant view of Shigatse's urban area. In the evening, stay in a star-rated hotel in Shigatse.

Today you will drive back to Lhasa from Shigatse. Along the way, you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Yarlung Valley through the car window, seeing the wide riverbed, peaceful villages and farmland... Finally, return to your hotel in downtown Lhasa. If you are interested, you can stroll around Lhasa again and enjoy the peaceful and beautiful atmosphere of life in the Tibetan region.
