After breakfast, you will visit Harbin's landmark [Saint Sophia Cathedral], the only surviving Byzantine-style Orthodox church in China. Its architectural style is unique, blending Chinese and Russian flavors, both magnificent and elegantly refined, with its giant green "onion dome" as a major highlight. You can stroll around Saint Sophia Cathedral, admire the grand and solemn architecture, learn about its long history, and capture the most magical and dreamy images. Next, you will continue to the [Central Street], known as "Asia's No. 1 Street." With high mountains and dense forests, it has developed a peculiar climate of "no three clear days in summer, snow drifting through the forest in winter." The snow season lasts up to 7 months, and the snow can be about 2 meters deep at its thickest. At a glance, the mountains, trees, houses, and streets are all covered in white snow, as if you have stepped into a dreamlike winter wonderland. The accommodation conditions in China Snow Town are not as good as hotels of the same level in downtown Harbin, and some guesthouses may not provide toiletries. It is recommended to bring your own just in case. 2. If you want a better experience of local life, you can stay in a traditional local "kang" room. A kang is a heatable brick bed with a fire underneath, providing warmth in the cold winter; if you want to experience the original style of China Snow Town, you can stay in a characteristic wooden cabin. 3. During peak season, accommodation in China Snow Town is very tight, so it is strongly recommended to book your accommodation in advance.

If you are a photography enthusiast, you can head to Yangcao Mountain early this morning to capture the most beautiful sunrise over Snow Town. As the first ray of morning light parts the dark sky and drapes the white snow in an orange-yellow cloak, you will be enchanted by the most beautiful sky. Yangcao Mountain is the highest peak in China's Snow Town, at an altitude of about 1,235 meters. It is not only an excellent place to watch the sunrise and sunset, but also the best place to photograph the magnificent and vast snow scenery of the North. (Optional activity: hiking is free; or choose to take a four-wheel-drive vehicle for 280 yuan/person, at your own expense) In addition, you can also choose to hike 1.8 kilometers (about 25 minutes) up to the Bangchui Mountain viewing platform to overlook the magnificent panoramic view of Snow Town and the tranquil, peaceful scenery of the Snow Town village. Afterwards, you will drive about 180 kilometers (about 3 hours) to [Jingpo Lake], known as the "West Lake of the North," to admire the amazing winter wonder—the ice waterfall. Jingpo Lake is a famous volcanic lake and the largest alpine barrier lake in China and the second largest in the world, formed by a natural wonder when lava blocked the Mudan River channel after a volcanic eruption ten thousand years ago. Here you can immerse yourself in the magnificent beauty of the lake and mountains in winter. You will also see the Diaoshuilou Waterfall at the northern end of Jingpo Lake, known as "China's No. 1 Waterfall in the North." It is one of the eight great scenic spots of Jingpo Lake, one of China's three great waterfalls, and one of the world's largest basalt waterfalls. The waterfall is about 70 meters wide, can reach more than 300 meters wide during the high-water period, and has a drop of more than 20 meters. In summer, you can admire the magnificent scene of water rushing down with tremendous momentum; in winter, the water freezes into ice, forming a breathtaking ice waterfall wonder. The ice waterfall, hundreds of meters wide, is crystal clear and adorned in silver, hanging high on the cliff like a giant silver dragon surging down—extremely spectacular. In the morning, you will depart from Dunhua City and head to 【Changbai Mountain】, known as the "First Mountain of the Guandong Region" (about 180 km, approximately 2.5 hours by car). This sacred mountain of Northeast China is renowned for its magnificent peaks, lakes, waterfalls, and snow scenery. It has been praised as "a thousand years of snow and ten thousand years of pines, the finest peak in the mortal world," has been included multiple times in the Guinness World Records, and holds honors such as "One of China's Top Ten Famous Mountains" and "One of China's Five Most Beautiful Lakes." Today's itinerary focuses on exploring the North Slope of Changbai Mountain. First, you will visit the iconic attraction of Changbai Mountain — Tianchi (Heaven Lake). At an elevation of about 2,189 meters, it is the deepest and largest volcanic crater lake in China and the highest in the world. It is also the source of three rivers — the Songhua, Yalu, and Tumen — and a boundary lake between China and North Korea. Its crystal-clear blue waters resemble a sparkling sapphire, surrounded by steep crater walls and sixteen peaks, creating a spectacular sight. Tianchi is often shrouded in mist and clouds, with its summit covered in ice and snow, resembling a fairyland and exuding great charm. The legend of the "Tianchi Monster" adds a touch of mystery to it. After enjoying the beauty of Tianchi, you will continue to visit Changbai Waterfall, known as "the volcanic lake waterfall with the greatest drop in the world." The waterfall plunges 68 meters, merging with the cliffs and green mountains in a magnificent display. You can overlook the spectacular waterfall from the viewing platform and marvel at nature's craftsmanship. Next, you may continue to admire the picturesque Small Tianchi, a small lake surrounded by beautiful Erman's birch forests. Its clear, emerald waters are like a mirror, reflecting the surrounding trees, blue sky, and white clouds — mountains and water interconnected, water and sky blending into one, creating a particularly enchanting scene. Afterward, you will visit Lvyuantan (Green Abyss Pool), known as the "Little Jiuzhaigou of Northeast China." Its waters are deep and emerald green, with a waterfall cascading down from a cliff with a maximum drop of 26 meters. The water splashes off boulders before flowing into the deep pool. Whenever mist rises, the pool is shrouded in vapor, blending seamlessly with the alpine birches and ancient boulders — a breathtaking sight resembling a fairyland on earth. This morning, you will head to Heping Ski Resort on the north slope of Changbai Mountain (about a 40-minute drive, about 22 kilometers). You can enjoy a 2-hour skiing experience here. The resort has beginner and intermediate slopes suitable for beginners and recreational skiers, well maintained and with appropriate gradients. Surrounded by pristine snowfields and crisp mountain breezes, you can easily enjoy the fun of ice-and-snow sports, away from the pressure of crowds and steep terrain. After skiing, drive to Jilin City (about a 4-hour drive, about 350 kilometers; winter mountain road conditions may affect actual travel time). Along the way, you can enjoy the winter scenery of Changbai Mountain's continuous snowy ridges and forest-clad slopes, like a slowly unfolding ink-wash painting of a snow country. After arrival, our guide will assist you with hotel check-in. After that, you can arrange your evening freely and prepare for the upcoming itinerary. Jilin City is located by the Songhua River in central Jilin Province and is a popular winter tourist destination in Northeast China. It is famous for "rime ice" — because the river water is relatively warm, water vapor condenses on tree branches on cold mornings, forming a crystal-clear spectacle of ice crystals. It is truly magical and is known as the "Home of Rime Ice in China." From December to February each year, you can view this scenery at places such as Rime Island, and also enjoy abundant ice-and-snow activities such as skiing. Good places to go in your free time Take a leisurely stroll along the Songhua River and enjoy the tranquil winter scenery.

Early this morning, you will drive to Rime Island in Wula Street Manchu Town, Longtan District, Jilin City. This is a river island in the Songhua River and one of the best places to view Jilin's spectacular winter rime. Because the upstream hydropower station discharges water at a relatively high temperature, the river surface does not easily freeze in winter. Water vapor rises and, upon meeting the cold, condenses into sparkling frost crystals on the branches, forming an endless stretch of rime scenery. When the rime is at its fullest, the entire island is like a dreamlike ice and snow wonderland: trees are draped in silver and jade, a thin mist shrouds the river, and when the morning light falls, everything sparkles—as if you have walked into a "winter fairytale world." Best Time to View the Rime Peak season: Late December to late February of the following year Best viewing period: 7:00–10:00 in the morning (at this time the rime is intact and the sunlight is soft; after 10:30 it may gradually fall off) Travel tips: Rime is a natural phenomenon that requires many weather conditions at the same time, such as low temperatures, relatively high humidity, and no wind or only a light breeze. Although Jilin is the best place to view it, rime scenery is not visible every day. It is recommended to check the local rime forecast before your trip and allow flexible time.
