In the morning, visit the Yungang Grottoes, a World Cultural Heritage site, and with a guide admire the Five Tanyao Caves and the exquisite flying apsara statues, experiencing the grandeur of Northern Wei Buddhist art. In the afternoon, visit the Datong Ancient City Wall or Huayan Temple.

In the morning, head to the Hanging Temple to see ancient architecture suspended on a sheer cliff; in the afternoon, visit the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, the tallest surviving wooden pagoda in the world, and return.
