Qufu to Mount Tai Hiking Day Tour: Zhongtian Gate + Nantian Gate + Jade Emperor Peak
After breakfast, you will head to Mount Tai (elevation about 1,545 meters) to start an exciting hiking trip. [Mount Tai] became China's first UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Site in 1987. Because it is located in the east (where the sun rises) and due to the tradition of Chinese emperors performing the Fengshan sacrifices, it is honored as "the first of China's Five Great Mountains." Historically, 72 recorded emperors offered sacrifices at Mount Tai, among whom 13 held the Fengshan Grand Ceremony (such as Qin Shi Huang, Emperor Wu of Han, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, etc.).
Hiking time: 4-5 hours (including sightseeing bus and cable car)
Tour route: Tianwaicun Visitor Center → sightseeing bus (about 20 minutes) → Zhongtianmen (starting point of the hike, elevation about 847 meters, with distant views of layered peaks) → Eighteen Bends (Mount Tai's famous steep staircase, the necessary route for ancient emperors' Fengshan ceremonial processions, 0.8 kilometers long, 400 meters vertical height, with 1,633 steps in total, and stone inscriptions from successive dynasties visible along the way) → Nantianmen (elevation about 1,460 meters, the gateway to the summit, anciently called "Tianmenguan." You can stand in the gateway and look down at the Eighteen Bends like a heavenly ladder hanging down, and Confucius's feeling that "climbing Mount Tai makes the world seem small" arises spontaneously) → Yuhuangding (the highest peak of Mount Tai, elevation about 1,545 meters, where you can check in at the background image of the 5-yuan RMB note - the "Five Great Mountains Supreme" stone inscription, and the Jade Emperor Temple summit stone) → Nantianmen → cable car → sightseeing bus → Tianwaicun Visitor Center
PS: Zhongtianmen → Nantianmen is the essence of the Mount Tai hike.

3. Climbing technique: The steps of the Eighteen Bends are steep (70-80 degrees). It is recommended to walk in a zigzag pattern to save energy.
