As a salt-producing area with a long history, the salt grains in Chaka Salt Lake form patches of white crystals. The tranquil, ripple-free water mirrors the sky on the clear silver-white lake surface. As you walk, it feels like walking in a dream above the clouds. You can stroll in the salt lake above the clouds, fully enjoying the scenery where water and sky meet, and you can also take a retro mini train along the tracks deep into the heart of the lake, immersing yourself in a world of salt. (Chaka Salt Lake admission 60 yuan, mini train 50 yuan/person one way, about 3 hours of sightseeing, at your own expense.) After lunch, we will head to [Da Qaidam Emerald Lake], a lesser-known attraction that has recently risen to fame. Emerald Lake consists of salt ponds of various sizes. Under the light at different times of day, the lake water constantly shifts through different shades of green — from pale green to translucent emerald, and then to Tiffany blue. The beautiful jade spread across the ground displays their astonishing beauty. (Emerald Lake is a 20-minute drive from Da Qaidam; the best time to photograph reflections is at sunset.) We suggest you bring some wet wipes to prevent the salt grains and salt water of Chaka Salt Lake from damaging your skin. 2. There are no restaurants in the scenic area. We suggest you bring food and drinking water. 4. Chaka Salt Lake is at an altitude of about 3,000 meters. The abandoned small town still retains the ruins of a kindergarten, bus, school, club, and factory, and the apocalyptic decay has quite an impact.
