Today, you will fly to Hulunbuir City, arriving at Hailar Dongshan International Airport (HLD). Hailar, known as the "Pearl of the Grassland," is waiting for you to explore. The airport is about 7 to 10 km from downtown Hailar. After arrival, our local driver will greet you at the airport exit and escort you to a downtown hotel for check-in, about a 15- to 20-minute drive. The rest of the time is yours to arrange freely, exploring this grassland city at your own pace. Suggested Free-Time Activities (depending on arrival time) If you arrive in Hailar early enough, you might start with these places You can begin at Genghis Khan Square, Hailar's "city living room" and one of the largest squares in Inner Mongolia. In the center of the square stands a tall statue of Genghis Khan on horseback, whip in hand—that strength and boldness seem to silently tell the soul of the grassland. Next, you can walk to the Hulunbuir Ethnic Museum, which displays the traces of life of the various ethnic groups on this land, from nomadic culture to historical changes, and is worth taking your time to see. If time permits and you are still in the mood, you might turn into Hailar Old Town. On the reconstructed streets, gray bricks and tiles complement horse-head walls, and you may occasionally come across folk performances. The leather paintings and handicrafts in the roadside shops are also worth browsing slowly—you might find a little something you like to take home. When night falls, you can visit the Hailar Night Market, taste delicious local specialties and snacks, and immerse yourself in the city's bustling, steamy atmosphere.

After breakfast, you will drive to Hulunbuir Grassland, hailed as "China's most beautiful grassland." It is China's best-preserved natural pasture and one of the world's four great grasslands, renowned for its vast scenery of "the sky so blue, the wilderness so wide, and when the wind blows the grass bends, revealing cattle and sheep" and its profound nomadic cultural heritage. Enjoying the reputation of "Kingdom of Forage Grass," it is a travel destination that countless people dream of. Your first stop is the Moergele River (also known as the Morigele River), the most representative river on the Hulunbuir Grassland, famous worldwide for its winding course and known as "the finest meandering river under heaven." Standing on the high bank overlooking the river, you'll see the water gracefully winding across the velvet-like grassland like a silver ribbon, or like a curve casually drawn by the earth. On both banks are cattle and sheep grazing leisurely, with yurts dotted in the distance and birds occasionally gliding past. Such scenes, captured with a casual click, look like postcards. If you want to experience grassland life more deeply, there are many herder-run experience spots along the river where you can ride a horse along the bank or try archery (both optional, at extra cost)—an unforgettable travel experience. Bidding farewell to the Moergele River, you will visit Ergun Wetland, China's largest and best-preserved natural wetland, known as "Asia's No. 1 Wetland." Covering about 12,000 hectares, the wetland is crisscrossed by tributaries of the Ergun River, forming a unique landscape where forest, grassland, and wetland intertwine. Upon arrival, you will walk slowly up a wooden boardwalk to the main viewing platform—standing there and gazing into the distance, the winding Genhe River threads through the greenery like the pulse of the earth. Beyond are rolling mountains, and below are dense shrubs and unnamed wildflowers, with waterfowl occasionally skimming the water and stirring ripples. That feeling of grandeur and beauty coexisting is hard to put into words. Equipment Suggestions: A sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are essential. If you want to photograph birds or distant cattle and sheep, a telephoto lens will be very useful. Also, there are many mosquitoes on the grassland, so remember to bring mosquito repellent or patches. After the tour, you will head to Genhe for check-in and rest (about a 2-hour drive). Genhe is known as "China's Cold Pole"; in winter, temperatures here have dropped to minus 58°C, though summer in Genhe is very cool and pleasant.

After breakfast, you will begin a day full of ethnic culture and magnificent scenery. First, your first stop is [Aoluguya Ewenki Ethnic Township], China's only ethnic minority tribe that herders reindeer, known as China's "last hunting tribe." The Ewenki are among China's earliest reindeer herders, with a history of several hundred years. For generations they have hunted and roamed deep in the dense forests of the Greater Khingan Mountains, migrating with the seasons and depending on the forest and reindeer for survival. In the Ewenki language, reindeer are called "oron" and are known as the "boats of the forest"—they are both an important means of transport, carrying the Ewenki's belongings through the sea of trees, and a symbol of the tribe's spirit. Entering the tribe, you can see reindeer strolling leisurely among the trees, their huge antlers spreading out like branches. You can feed them some moss with your own hands, gently stroke them, and take photos with these gentle "forest spirits." When a reindeer's warm breath brushes against your palm, that wonderful connection between human and animal will warm your heart. Bidding farewell to the reindeer tribe, you will continue deeper into the heart of the Greater Khingan Mountains to visit [Moerdaoga National Forest Park]. This is one of the best-preserved and most pristine cold-temperate forest ecosystems in northern China, known as the "Oxygen Bar of the North." The park is covered with larch, white birch, and Scots pine, as well as spruce, fir, and aspen. In summer it is lush and green, in autumn the forests are ablaze with color, and in winter it becomes a fairytale world wrapped in silver. You can stroll along scenic hiking trails, with soft fallen leaves underfoot and the sound of wind and birdsong in your ears. Take a deep breath, and it is full of the scent of the forest. If you would like to enjoy the beauty of the forest in a more relaxed way, you can also ride the forest mini-train (optional, additional fee required). The train travels through the primeval forest and stops at 4 stations along the way, taking about 1 hour and 40 minutes in total. Sitting in the slow-moving carriage watching the sea of trees slip past outside the window is an indescribable pleasure. After the visit, you will head to Shiwei (about 78 km, roughly a 1.5-hour drive), a Russian-style town on the China-Russia border. Shiwei is separated from Russia by just one river, and the village on the opposite bank is in Russia. Strolling through the town's streets, you will see brightly colored "onion-dome" log cabins, Russian-style churches, and fair-haired, blue-eyed Chinese-Russian descendants who speak with a strong Northeastern accent—that wonderful mix feels both fresh and fun. Tonight you will stay in Shiwei and take in this unique border atmosphere.

After breakfast, you will set off for the next stop. This route is praised as one of the most beautiful self-driving routes in Hulunbuir. Along the way, you will enjoy magnificent river views, rolling grasslands, quiet birch forests, scattered wetlands, and Russian-style villages that seem to have stepped out of a fairy tale. Along the way, you will stop at a viewing platform—here you can overlook the stunning river bend of the Ergun River. The river winds across the grassland, forming a unique "nine bends and eighteen turns" landscape, which locals vividly call the "Bagua River" or "Taiji Diagram." Climbing onto the viewing platform and high ground and gazing into the distance, the river dances like a silver ribbon on a green carpet, so beautiful that you cannot help but keep pressing the shutter. If time permits, you can also walk along the riverbank into a birch forest. In spring and summer, it is lush green everywhere; by autumn, the leaves turn golden, sunlight filters through the branches and leaves, and the whole forest glows—breathtakingly beautiful and enough to make you forget your fatigue. Continue onward for about 3 hours to reach Heishantou. [Heishantou] is the best place in Hulunbuir for horseback riding, bar none. The vast, boundless pasture spreads out before your eyes, and the distant hills rise and fall like waves. This is truly the freedom that belongs to the grasslands. If you want to gallop on horseback (optional experience, at your own expense), there are several professional horse farms here to choose from. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced rider, you can find a suitable route—ride across the grasslands, ride up the slope to overlook the land, or simply let the horse walk slowly... In the evening, the stunning sunset at Heishantou is not to be missed. It is praised as one of the most beautiful sunsets in Hulunbuir. You can climb the Heishantou viewing platform or take a car to a higher area and quietly wait for the sun to sink in the west. At this time, the sky gradually changes from gold to orange, pink-purple, and finally deep red—the entire grassland and the winding river surface are coated in warm light. At that moment, whether you raise your camera or just watch quietly, you will feel that all the traveling was worth it. As night falls, you will stay in a traditional yurt on the grasslands. After settling in briefly, you can join a lively bonfire party under the stars and enjoy a spectacular Mongolian song and dance performance.

After breakfast, you will leave Heishantou and head to Manzhouli, the pearl city on the China-Russia border. Along the way, the grassland outside the window is like a moving painting—in summer, a sea of green dotted with wildflowers; if you come in autumn, the entire grassland puts on a golden coat, gently undulating under blue skies and white clouds. Herds of cattle, sheep, and horses are scattered across it, grazing leisurely or occasionally lifting their heads to look at passing cars. You never tire of such scenes. After about a 3.5-hour drive, you will reach Hulun Lake. [Hulun Lake] is located about 40 km south of Manzhouli and is the largest lake in Inner Mongolia and China's fifth-largest freshwater lake. In Mongolian it is called "Dalai Nur," meaning "a lake like the sea." The water is vast and shimmering, merging with the sky. Along the shore are lush pastures where herds of cattle and sheep graze leisurely, and waterfowl occasionally skim across the lake. You can stand by the lake in the breeze and admire the breathtaking scene where water and sky become one. Bidding farewell to Hulun Lake, you will head to Manzhouli's landmark attraction—[Manzhouli National Gate Scenic Area], the most symbolic place on the China-Russia border. You can climb up to the National Gate Observation Hall and look down at the China-Russia railway hub below, watching freight trains rumbling past from China into Russia. In the distance is the Russian border town of Zabaykalsk, its houses clearly visible. At the foot of the National Gate is Boundary Marker No. 41—a spot many people line up to photograph. Standing here, one foot in China and one glance at Russia, the feeling is extraordinary. Next, you will head to [Manzhouli Matryoshka Scenic Area], the most dreamy and photogenic place in Manzhouli, full of exotic charm. The giant matryoshka buildings are brightly colored, some over 30 meters tall and actually hotels inside; scattered around the square are matryoshka sculptures of various shapes, Russian-style churches, fountains, and painted walls. You can stroll slowly and find all kinds of angles for photos, creating more travel memories. At night, stay overnight in Manzhouli.

After breakfast, you will depart from Manzhouli for Hailar, preparing to leave. The distance from Manzhouli to Hailar is about 228 kilometers, roughly a 2.5 to 3-hour drive. At this point, your 6-day Inner Mongolia Hulunbuir Grassland journey is drawing to a close, and it is time to bid farewell to the beautiful scenery of Hulunbuir.
