Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Kanola Glacier - Shigatse
After breakfast, you will depart from Lhasa by vehicle, heading west along National Highway 318 to the bridge junction. Here you can see the branch of the Yarlung Tsangpo River flowing through Lhasa. After that, you will travel along a winding mountain road, crossing the 4,990-meter Gambala Pass on the way, and visit Yamdrok Lake, the highest freshwater lake in the world. Yamdrok Lake is also called Yamdrok Lake for short, meaning "Lake of the Swan" in Tibetan. It is 4,441 meters above sea level and is one of the three great sacred lakes of Tibet. Its beauty is unmatched in southern Tibet. The clear lake water, towering snow mountains, and washed-blue sky merge into one, and the picturesque scenery is unforgettable.
After visiting Yamdrok Lake, you will travel by vehicle via Nagarze to visit Karola Glacier, which is more than 5,000 meters above sea level. Karola Glacier is located beside the highway, like a giant thangka hanging on the mountain wall, crystal clear and pure white, so close that it seems one could touch it. Finally, via the ancient city of Gyantse, you will go to Shigatse, the capital of Tsang at 3,750 meters above sea level, to stay overnight.
