Lhasa → Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon → Nyingchi

Depart from Lhasa and head to the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon to take in its breathtaking scenery, then continue to Nyingchi to experience its distinctive charm. [Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon] Follow the Nyang River eastward all the way, and you will reach the "deepest rift on Earth"—the [Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon]. Nyingchi → Basum Lake → Lhasa

【Basum Tso · Lake Mirror】 Basum Tso is the largest freshwater lake in eastern Tibet. Its shape resembles a crescent moon set in high mountain valleys, and its crystal-clear water contrasts beautifully with the snow mountains. In the lake there is a small island, on which stands Tsozong Gongba Monastery, built at the end of the Tang Dynasty. The hall mainly enshrines Guru Padmasambhava, Thousand-Armed Guanyin, and the Golden Boy and Jade Girl. Stepping into the Basum Tso scenic area is like entering a landscape painting. The lake water is emerald green like a gem, shimmering under the sunlight. On the island in the center of the lake, the thousand-year-old Tsozong Gongba Monastery is solemn and dignified, carrying profound historical culture. [Potala Palace · Holy Sanctuary] When sunlight falls on the Potala Palace, this palace complex, the highest in the world, reveals its solemn and sacred appearance. The entire journey is about 350 kilometers and takes 7 hours by car, offering a full view of snow mountains, holy lakes, and glacier wonders. 【Yamdrok Lake · Spiritual and Holy】 It is one of the three great holy lakes of Tibet, formed when glacial debris blocked the river channel. The lake surface sits at an elevation of 4,441 meters and covers an area of 638 square kilometers. Viewed from above, the lake water resembles a winding silk ribbon, and under the refraction of sunlight it displays rich layers of blue, sometimes light blue like a clear sky, sometimes deep blue like a mysterious gem. It is surrounded by snow mountains such as Noijin Kangsang Peak, which stands at 7,206 meters and is majestic and spectacular, complementing Yamdrok Lake beautifully. Within the lake, 21 small islands are scattered like stars, each with its own character. 【Karola Glacier · Wondrous】 This glacier can truly be called "wondrous." Located at the border of Nagarze County and Gyantse County, it is one of the three major continental glaciers of Tibet and the eastern source of the Nianchu River. It backs onto the southern slope of Noijin Kangsang Peak, and the front edge of its ice tongue lies at an elevation of 5,560 meters. The upper part of the glacier is a relatively gently sloping ice cap, while the lower part is an ice tongue in the form of a hanging glacier. Under the sunlight, its ice surface gleams with a cold light, and features such as crevasses and seracs are extraordinary, as if they were ice-and-snow wonders carved by nature. Shigatse → Gyatso La Pass → Rongbuk Monastery → Everest Base Camp → Everest Town

Cross the Gyatso La Pass viewing platform (5,248 m) and look down over the Himalayan peaks, pass the world's highest monastery, Rongbuk Monastery (5,154 m), and arrive at Everest Base Camp (5,200 m) to feel its sacredness at the place closest to Mount Everest, then return to Everest Town for accommodation. The total distance is about 340 kilometers. Along the way, snow mountains, prayer flags, and high-altitude wilderness weave together into the most magnificent picture of a road to heaven. [Gyatso La Pass · Summit] At an altitude of 5,248 meters, it is a pass in the Qomolangma National Nature Reserve. Standing on the viewing platform, the huge reserve sign comes into view, and countless prayer flags crackle in the wind. When the weather is clear, you can not only gaze at Mount Everest at 8,848.86 meters, but also take in Cho Oyu, Lhotse, and Makalu, three peaks all over 8,000 meters, all at once. At the same pass, four peaks over 8,000 meters gather together, which is extremely rare among the passes crossed by National Highway 318 and even roads worldwide. [Rongbuk Monastery · Sacred and Tranquil] It sits at the end of the Rongbuk Glacier at the foot of Mount Everest, at an altitude of about 5,154 meters. It is the highest monastery in the world, belongs to the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, and houses both monks and nuns. The monastery is divided into old and new parts. The old monastery is closer to Mount Everest and preserves relics such as Guru Padmasambhava's meditation cave. The new monastery is an excellent place to view Mount Everest. Looking south from inside the monastery, the Everest massif resembles a giant pyramid, towering majestically and stirring the heart. The mani pile and white stupa at the monastery gate are often used as foreground for photographing Mount Everest, tranquil yet sacred. [Everest Base Camp · Pinnacle] At an altitude of 5,200 meters, it is the closest place ordinary people can get to Mount Everest. The base camp is enclosed by tent hotels, with armed police on duty nearby. Standing here, the straight-line distance to Mount Everest is only 19 kilometers, allowing you to feel up close the majestic and overwhelming momentum of Mount Everest. It stands like a giant between heaven and earth, radiating breathtaking charm, and its unique presence is deeply imprinted in the hearts of every visitor.

After sunrise, the snow peaks appear even more majestic, with light and shadow shifting in magnificent momentum. 【108 Bends · Winding Route】 In winter, the 108 Bends wind through the mountains like a silver chain. Driving through them, one must keep spiraling along the mountain terrain. Outside the window, snow ridges and deep valleys alternate with each turn, and every curve feels like turning the pages of a three-dimensional snow mountain scroll. Visitors often lean by the window and gaze into the distance, watching the road ahead draw graceful arcs across the snowy plateau. Shigatse → Tashilhunpo Monastery → Lhasa

Depart from Shigatse to visit Tashilhunpo Monastery and feel the solemnity of the sacred realm, then set off back to Lhasa, ending the journey in the afterglow of the holy city. 【Tashilhunpo Monastery · Sacred Realm】 Located on Jijilangka Road in Shigatse, it is one of the six great monasteries of the Gelug school and the largest monastery in the Tsang region. Its name in Tibetan means "Auspicious Mount Sumeru." It covers an area of 150,000 square meters, with 57 scripture halls and 3,600 rooms. The entire monastery is built along the hillside, with golden roofs and red walls, halls rising one after another in balanced density. The Tsochin Hall is the earliest structure, and the sutra-debating courtyard in front of it can accommodate many monks for debates. Its most stunning treasure is the world's largest bronze Maitreya Buddha enshrined in the Maitreya Buddha Hall—the Jampa Buddha (Buddha of the Future): this gilded giant statue stands 26.2 meters tall, consumed 279 kilograms of gold and 230,000 jin of brass, and its hand alone can hold three people standing. The Relic Stupa Hall enshrines the stupas of successive Panchen Lamas, and the monastery also houses a large number of precious cultural relics.
