Then cross the square and visit the Beijing Palace Museum. 【The Forbidden City】, also known as the Purple Forbidden City, is located at the center of Beijing's central axis. It was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties and is the world's largest and best-preserved wooden-structure palace complex of the Forbidden City. Here you can visit the important halls along the central axis one by one, admiring the splendid and exquisite ancient palace architecture while following your guide's explanations to learn more about the historical stories of the Forbidden City. Recommended route: Take the cable car up - hike the east line - take the toboggan down Take the fully enclosed cable car easily up to the higher part of the Great Wall (around Watchtower No. 14), then begin your east-line hike. This section is relatively gentle, surrounded by pines and cypresses along the way, with the Great Wall winding like a giant dragon along the verdant ridges, offering extraordinarily magnificent scenery. You will hike past the iconic Zhengguan Pass (a rare pass formed by three connected watchtowers) and finally reach the majestic Dajiaolou, undoubtedly a superb spot for photos and for feeling the imposing grandeur of the Great Wall.
