In the morning, visit the Mogao Caves. First watch a film at the Digital Exhibition Center, then follow a professional guide into the caves to admire the murals and painted sculptures spanning a thousand years from the Northern Liang to the Yuan Dynasty, and feel the awe of Eastern and Western civilizations meeting here. In the afternoon, you can arrange your own time or visit the Dunhuang Academy exhibition.

Mingsha Mountain & Crescent Lake + Shazhou Night Market

In the morning, head to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake. You can ride a camel deep into the desert and climb the dunes to overlook the thousand-year-old spring shaped like a crescent moon; at sunset, the sand dunes and the spring complement each other beautifully. Return to the city in the evening and stroll through Shazhou Night Market, sampling local delicacies and fruits.
