Shigatse-Manla Reservoir-Karola Glacier-Yamdrok Lake-Lhasa
After breakfast, you will drive back to Lhasa. On the way back, you will visit Manla Reservoir, Karola Glacier and Yamdrok Lake Scenic Area.
【Manla Reservoir】At an altitude of 4,353 meters, it lies in the canyon below the Simila Pass at 4,330 meters. Looking down from the pass, Manla Reservoir is like an emerald set in the vast mountain body. The lake water is a translucent jewel green, known as the turquoise of the plateau, and it is also called the "First Dam of Tibet".
【Karola Glacier】It is one of the three major continental glaciers in Tibet. The huge glacier extends from the misty summit all the way down to the roadside only about 1 kilometer from the highway. In its crystal-clear deep blue, it brings a touch of chill. The films Red River Valley, The Battle of Gyantse and Yun Shui Yao were all shot here on location.
【Yamdrok Lake】Abbreviated as Yamdrok Lake, it is hailed as the most beautiful water scenery in the world. From the viewing platform at Gambala Pass you can overlook Yamdrok Lake, and from viewing platforms No. 2 and No. 3 below the pass you can see it even closer. But no matter from which angle you look, you cannot see its entirety. Under the sunlight at different times, it also reveals layers of extremely rich blue, with scenery like a painting, as if you were in a fairyland on earth.
