It is warm year-round. From November to April of the following year is the dry season, with clear and most comfortable weather, and it is also the period of the Water Splashing Festival (mid-April); the rainy season (May to October) makes the rainforest most lush, but rain is frequent.
Transportation Guide
Xishuangbanna Gasa Airport connects to Kunming and major cities, and from Jinghong Station you can take the high-speed train via Kunming toward Laos; within the city you can take a taxi or charter a car to the various scenic areas. The rainforest scenic areas are fairly far away, so it is recommended to set aside a full day.
Suggested Itineraries
Classic three-day tour: arrive in Jinghong on the first day and stroll through Gaozhuang Xishuangjing and the night market in the evening; on the second day visit the Tropical Botanical Garden; on the third day head to Wild Elephant Valley or Dai Park. A four-day tour can add Manting Park, Jinuo Mountain and the Lancang River. If it is during the Water Splashing Festival, you can arrange to take part in folk activities.
