Pickup at Lhasa Railway Station or Airport

Welcome to Lhasa, the snowy plateau, at an elevation of 3,650 meters. When you first arrive in Lhasa, it is recommended to walk slowly and not get too excited. We will safely deliver you to the hotel and assist with check-in. We suggest resting as much as possible after checking in, minimizing activity, and not rushing to shower or wash your hair—let your body adapt to the altitude first. Lhasa Railway Station is located in the suburbs of Lhasa, about 8 kilometers from the Potala Palace. The route crosses the Lhasa River, and you can enjoy the scenery on both banks from the train. Lhasa Airport is located in Gonggar County of Shannan City, about 60 kilometers from downtown Lhasa. The drive takes about 1 hour, and along the way you can enjoy distinctive Tibetan villages and pastoral scenery.

Lhasa Free Exploration: Potala Palace + Jokhang Temple + Princess Wencheng Live Performance

In the morning, you will visit the Potala Palace, the world's highest ancient palace-fortress architectural complex. Climb the long stairs step by step, overlooking Lhasa as you go, taking in the grandeur of the city. While taking photos and resting, you will then enter the Potala Palace with a professional guide to explore this mysterious ancient palace for which very few interior images are available online. After visiting the Potala Palace, you can go to Potala Palace Square or the Chakpori viewing platform; these two places are the best spots for photographing the Potala Palace. In the afternoon, you can visit Jokhang Temple Square. Jokhang Temple Square is the destination of many pilgrims. For hundreds of years, pilgrims have come from afar, prostrating every three steps, measuring the distance from their hometown with their bodies. Jokhang Temple Square is filled with incense smoke all day long, and devout worshippers have left deep imprints of full-body prostrations. Regarding faith, this place will give you the most perfect explanation. If one day you lose yourself, please come sit at Jokhang Temple Square and look around; about faith, it will give you the answer... The temple on the square is the central temple of Tibetan Buddhism—Jokhang Temple (you may purchase admission to enter according to your own situation, at your own expense). You can also stroll around Barkhor Street. Barkhor Street is a famous cultural street in Tibet and also a sacred pilgrimage circuit. The ring around the outer wall of Jokhang Temple is called "Barkhor Street," namely Bajiao Street, the route where Tibetans perform their kora rituals. You can also browse the handicraft market on Bajiao Street to pick souvenirs, or wander aimlessly and find a sweet tea house, sit by the window, leisurely drink tea and daydream. Lhasa's sunlight pours down from the clear blue sky, enough to clear away all tedious and negative emotions. In the evening, you will watch the large-scale epic drama Princess Wencheng. With the starry sky as its backdrop and mountains and rivers as its scenery, the large-scale epic drama Princess Wencheng is magnificent and soul-stirring, recreating Princess Wencheng's arduous long journey and her winding emotional journey, portraying a legendary love story of the great Tang Dynasty and singing the moving epic of Han-Tibetan harmony. Kind reminder—Potala Palace tickets are pre-purchased with fixed visiting times. We will flexibly adjust the itinerary according to the actual reserved visiting time. Entering the Potala Palace requires a security check; dangerous items are strictly prohibited, and photography is not allowed inside the Potala Palace.

Lhasa-Basum Tso-Lulang Forest-Lulang Town · Nyingchi

After breakfast, you will depart from Lhasa along the most beautiful highway—the Lhasa-Nyingchi Expressway—with breathtaking scenery all the way, then arrive at Basum Lake for sightseeing. 【Basum Lake】is the only natural 5A-level scenic area in Tibet, known as the "Little Switzerland" of Nyingchi. The scenic area combines snow mountains, lakes, forests, waterfalls, pastures, cultural relics, and famous ancient temples, with extraordinary scenery that varies with the four seasons, and a gathering of rare wild plants—truly a paradise on earth. After arriving at Basum Lake, you need to take the scenic area shuttle to the core scenic area's island in the middle of the lake. Legend has it that this island is a "hollow island," meaning it is not connected to the lake bottom but floats on the water. On the island, there is also the Tang Dynasty building "Tsozong Gongba Temple," a famous Nyingma red sect temple in Tibet. After visiting the island, you will take the shuttle to the Dajila Viewing Platform. This requires climbing—step by step on clean stairs, slowly ascending to the summit, where you can overlook the panoramic view of Basum Lake. Afterwards, you will continue forward, crossing the 【Sejila Pass】at an elevation of 4,702 meters, where you can gaze at Namcha Barwa, the crown among China's ten most beautiful famous mountains, and also experience ringing a bell for blessings. Then you will continue and arrive at the "natural oxygen bar" Lulang Forest. 【Lulang Forest】is a forest in a sea of clouds and mist. The entire scenic area is picturesque, surrounded by snow mountains, with lush forests in the valley and meadows as neat as if trimmed by hand. When rhododendrons bloom all over the mountains in May and June, the vast Lulang Forest forms a breathtakingly stunning sight. Finally, you will arrive at Lulang Town for overnight accommodation.

Lulang Town-Yani Wetland Park-Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon-Nyingchi

After breakfast, you will first head to Yani Wetland Park. 【Yani Wetland Park】 (formerly Benri Sacred Mountain Scenic Area) is a sacred mountain of Tibet's native Bon religion. This mountain is one of the important sacred mountains worshipped by Bon followers, who place all their hopes for happiness in this life and liberation in the next upon Benri Sacred Mountain. In order to eliminate sins and various illnesses, they circumambulate the mountain on time every year. In addition, Yani Wetland Park is also the confluence of the Yarlung Tsangpo River and the Nyang River. The scenery here could only be created by the ingenious hand of nature: the elegant trickle of the Nyang River is carried by the surging Yarlung Tsangpo River into the Indian Ocean, and the boundary at the confluence is clearly visible. In the afternoon, you will head to the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon Scenic Area. 【Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon】 is the deepest canyon on Earth, known as "humanity's last secret realm." You can follow the scenic area's sightseeing bus to visit the Dukha Castle ruins, marvel at the magical power of love at "Qingbi Shijian," and you may close your eyes, join your palms, make a wish, or place a small mani stone to pray. Or listen to the roaring symphony of the Yajiang Canyon at the water platform, and view the magnificent scenery among the villages on both sides of the canyon from the viewing platform. Finally, return to Nyingchi for overnight stay.

Nyingchi-Wolong Strange Stones-Lhamo La Tso -Gyaca County

In the morning, you will first visit Nyingchi's Wolong Strange Stones. 【Wolong Strange Stones】 are located in Wolong Town of Mainling County, Nyingchi, distributed across a narrow river beach, mostly dark grey and silver grey. In the afternoon, you will visit Lhamo La-tso. 【Lhamo La-tso】 is a famous sacred lake in the Shannan region. This oval lake, only one square kilometer in size, lies elegantly hidden in the embrace of the mountains. Before each search for the reincarnation of the Dalai Lama, Panchen Lama, and other great living Buddhas, people come to this lake to observe the waters and divine the signs. It is said that when several people look together, each sees something different, and one can see one's past and future lives in the lake's reflections. Afterwards, you will drive to Gyaca for accommodation.

Gyaca County-Dagu Canyon-Monkey Viewing Platform-Yamdrok Lake-Lhasa

After breakfast, you will first head to Dagu Canyon. Dagu Canyon is a relatively narrow section of the middle reaches of the Yarlung Tsangpo River and belongs to the second-largest canyon of the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Here the river flows swiftly and roars, thrilling and awe-inspiring. Dagu Canyon is also called Monkey-Watching Platform, because monkeys are easily encountered here. The monkey king often brings his family to beg passersby for food. The monkeys here are very enthusiastic, so please watch your bags and be careful not to have them confiscated by the monkeys. In the afternoon, you will visit Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet's three great sacred lakes. Yamdrok Lake, abbreviated as Yamdrok, means "Lake of Swans" in Tibetan. The lake surface is at an altitude of 4,441 meters, and its beauty is unrivaled in southern Tibet. The clear lake water, towering snow mountains, and washed-blue sky merge into one, and the picturesque scenery makes one linger and forget to return.

Lhasa-Namtso-Lhasa

In the early morning, you will drive through the Northern Tibet Grassland, with colorful prayer flags fluttering in the wind along the way. Then you will speed along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, crossing the Laken La Pass at an elevation of 5,190 meters, and arrive at 【"Heavenly Lake" Namtso】, the foremost of Tibet's three great sacred lakes. Namtso has an elevation of 4,718 meters and is the world's highest-altitude large lake and China's second-largest saltwater lake. To the south lies the year-round snow-capped Nyainqentanglha Range, and to the north and west are plateau hills. With vast lakeshores, grasslands surround the lake, and the water and grass are abundant. The lake water has high salinity, and the basin is rich in wildlife resources, including yaks and goats. The lake is home to many wild birds and produces scale-less fish and naked carp. The lake water is clear, complementing the surrounding snow mountains, with beautiful scenery. Namtso is like a sparkling pearl inlaid on the vast Changtang grassland. After the visit, you will return to Lhasa by the same route. Tip: The driving time today is relatively long and tiring, so you need to get up early. The altitude in Northern Tibet is relatively high, so please bring a thick coat, apply sunscreen, and bring sunglasses and a hat.

Lhasa-Drepung Monastery-Tibet Planet Astronomy Experience Center--Lhasa

After breakfast, you will visit Drepung Monastery. 【Drepung Monastery】 is a Gelug school monastery of Tibetan Buddhism and the largest monastery in Lhasa. The monastery is built layer by layer along the mountain, well-arranged, and houses an extremely rich collection of cultural relics. Every year at the end of the 6th and beginning of the 7th month of the Tibetan calendar, Drepung Monastery celebrates the Shoton Festival and holds a grand Buddha unveiling ceremony, during which many pilgrims and tourists come to pray. In the afternoon, you will visit the Tibetan Planet Astronomy Experience Museum. 【Tibetan Planet Astronomy Experience Museum】 is the first astronomy-themed science and technology experience museum in Tibet and currently one of the larger immersive interactive astronomy experience museums in the country. You can interact with astronomy through games in any area for a zero-distance experience, fully embarking on a journey to explore the mysterious universe. You can also learn about traditional Tibetan culture, including Tibetan medicine and Tibetan astronomy and calendrics, making it a great destination for family trips and science and technology tours.
